Mocha on the Mount – Chapter 4
About Storage-Matthew 6:19-34
Song: "Why Worry?"
Why worry, when you can pray,
Trust Jesus, he'll be your stay
Don't be a doubting Thomas
Rest fully on His promises,
Why Worry, Worry, Worry, Worry,
-- WHEN YOU CAN PRAY!!! (author unknown)
In our passage this week, we are faced with the reality of how much we truly ‘trust’ God for His care and provisions for us. We are in a materialistic environment. We are constantly bombarded with insecurities of our country’s financial situation, religious institutions, let alone our personal finances.
Within the scope of our individual lives, we face challenges every day to look our very best with all the new styles, trending makeup and face-lifting creams, checking our DNA so to avert health issues, building our nest eggs in case of financial collapse, and hording food for the eventual catastrophic disaster!
Fear grips many when looking toward the future. BUT, God once again tells us not to fear!
God reminds us that He knows when a sparrow falls, puts the lilies in the fields, and knows our every need before we ask.
God gives us a conditional promise in Matthew 6:33, “But above all pursue His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
On page 78, Sandra gives you a list to reflect on our response to life. Take time this week and ask God to reveal areas you need improvement.
Thoughts to ponder for the week,
1. What one thing will you allow God to show you His provision (proof of your trust in God)?
2. What is “blouse theology”? How can you be a better steward of the provisions God has given you?
Have a blessed week getting to know our Lord and Savior deeper!!!
