As we’ve heard it said, “Actions speak louder than words” and “do unto others as you would have them do to you.” We are reminded that how we respond to people and what we do in response to others are a direct result of the ‘heart’. Matthew 12:34 reminds us that our actions and words are an outpouring of our heart.
During this week’s study we are asked to evaluate our thoughts, motivations, and actions towards others. It’s easy to criticize while we ourselves are guilty of the very same. Sandra challenges us to examine our heart and mind. How can we have the mind of Christ? What does that look like in the world that we live? Do we want to change?
Sandra refers to Romans 14:10-13. Judgement carries responsibility. Let us evaluate our own heart towards a critical spirit. Keep in mind: The Law reveals our sin, BUT Grace covers it!!!!
Should we not also love our sisters ‘where they are’ and lovingly bring them back into the arms of Jesus! That doesn’t mean you agree or allow sin to prosper but it means to allow God to do the convicting and you be there to help your sister back into fellowship.
Psalms 37: 3-5, “Trust in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.” That is the mind of Christ. Matthew 7:7-12, Ask and you will be given, Seek and you will find, Knock and the door will be opened…”
In closing, it is God who changes us first, when we seek Him!! Pg. 102, “desire planted, desire filled!”
