Mocha on the Mount Chapter 6
You’ve done it! This is our last week of study through the Beatitudes. It has been a blessing to meditate on the words of Jesus. In this final week, we are challenged to let Christ be Lord of our lives, setting our hearts to be obedient to God’s calling, and realize it is God who does the work in us not we ourselves. What a joy it is when we are obedient to the Father’s call, loving others the way Christ loved us, having a servants heart, and knowing God provided a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
As you finish the week, answer these 3 questions;
1. From Matthew 7:20, how would others recognize your faith? Does your fruit evidence your faith in Christ?
2. From Matthew 7:15-16, why does the Lord warn us about the wolves? Who Is this referencing ? How do we recognize the wolf in sheep’ s clothing?
3. From Matthew 7:24-20, who is considered wise and a fool? In application, Romans 3, reveals the sinfulness of this world and our born sin nature. Give the contrast of one of the world and a believer’s dependency on Christ and Him alone? In other words, what is the redemptive act that places us into the Kingdom of God?
As you’ve studied the scripture these past 6 weeks and find yourself questioning your faith, take a moment and reflect on Jesus words. John 14:6 says, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by Me (Jesus). If you’ve NEVER asked God to forgive you of your sins, believed He died and rose again, trusted Him to be your Savior, then my friend you are not His Child. My prayer for you is that you come to a moment, trusting Christ to be your Lord and Savior, turn from your ways, and follow Him.
If you’ve made that decision today to follow Christ, let us know so that we may pray for you and help you in your walk with God.
Prayer from Pg 126, Mocha on the Mount,
“Lord Jesus, how marvelously You demonstrated Your mercy to me when I was helpless. Forgive my pride! What possible reason could I have for boasting, except in the greatness of You who have done all for me? Amazing love!!! How can it be that you, my God, should die for me? Since you have brought me out of the slave market of sin and purchased me for yourself, You have every right to receive obedience and worship and unswerving devotion. You alone—not my own filthy works—are my foundation. Please give me the strength to do the will of Your Father, to whom be the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
Have a Blessed weekend!
